Born in 1964 in Kadirenigudem, Nalgonda district, Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Laxman Aelay initially pursued a career in commerce. 

Despite finding success in the field, his innate passion for fine arts led him to enroll in the Bachelor of Arts in Painting program at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University College of Fine Arts in Hyderabad. 

This marked the beginning of his journey from commerce to canvas, where he found his true calling as an artist.
