Senior and prominent artist, Dr. Laxman Aelay, born in 1964 in Kadirenigudem, Nalgonda district, Andhra Pradesh, initially embarked on a different path, graduating in commerce and working as a signboard painter, designer, and illustrator of books. Despite finding success in these fields, his passion for fine arts led him to pursue a BA in Painting from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University College of Fine Arts in Hyderabad.
Dr. Aelay's artistic journey is deeply rooted in nostalgia, reflecting the rural landscapes and people of his upbringing in the Indian village, Kadirenigudem. His early works, showcased in significant exhibitions such as "Contemporary Deccan - A New Generation of Artists," were known for portraying the lives of poverty-stricken individuals from his village. Over time, Laxman Aelay Paintings style evolved, and he transitioned from larger canvases to smaller, more compact works. The shift to vivid colours in his recent paintings, depicting flowers, jewelry, and traditional clothing, marked a departure from his earlier preference for white, black, and shades of gray.
Internationally recognised, Dr. Aelay has received numerous awards, including one from the Hyderabad Art Society in 1995. Notably, he was entrusted with creating the Telangana state logo in India, showcasing his influence and significance in the art world.
