Dhruti Mahajan

Artist Dhruti Mahajan, born in Amalner in 1981 was brought up in Akot, Maharashtra. An advocate by profession, then completed her BFA from Bharati vidyapeeth’s College of Fine Arts, Pune in 2016.

Mahajan’s works are all about being in the present moment, in the state of mindfulness. Searching her own existential reality – mindful existence of oneself in this physical reality, experiencing tranquility and peace through meditative art, she tries to communicate the spiritual essence of life to the viewer. Painting makes it possible to be in a constant state of mindfulness where all the chaos outside dies down, you solely perceive and accept all your experiences and thoughts without judging them. Through her painting she tries to take the audiences to this thoughtlessness state where only the viewer remains by himself, the brain quiescent and the eyes observing.

Mahajan works mostly in acrylic on canvas. Colours are not used to express feeling or mood. According to her, it simply indicates the natural reality which is colourless. The natural source within you too is colourless. The only thing that seems colourful in external reality is the thing that is created by mind, the colours exists only in your perception. She typically uses muted colour palette to explore her inner peace on an external substrate and also to transferthe tranquility, the calm and the peace into the spectators.
