Madan Pawar

Madan Pawar

Born in rural Maharashtra in 1985, Madan Pawar defied convention by pursuing art in the bustling cities of Aurangabad and Mumbai. After earning his BFA and MFA from the prestigious Sir J.J. School of Art, Madan found his enduring muse in Jodhpur's "Blue City." Its unique geometry and cubical architecture, bathed in blue, grey, and ochre, captivated him.

Working predominantly with acrylics, Madan's signature style features sweeping aerial views and panoramas of Jodhpur. His paintings, devoid of human presence, showcase the city's intricate simplicity and three-dimensional quality, reminiscent of Paul Cézanne. He masterfully uses blues, dull pinks, ochres, and reds to offer a fresh perspective on this historic city.

Madan Pawar is a celebrated artist, having won numerous accolades including the National Academy Award (Lalit Kala Akademi, 2015) and The Bombay Art Society Best Painting Award (2015). His work has been exhibited extensively, including a solo show at Jehangir Art Gallery (2018) and various group shows at prominent galleries. His paintings are held in corporate collections both in India and internationally. Madan currently balances his art practice with teaching at the Ideal Institute of Architecture in Mumbai.
